ABOUT

In 2006, Friday InterMadness was born to consolidate all the cool links that different groups of friends were emailing to each other week after week. This growing group of friends would send their links to the InterMadness inbox, and the InterMadness staff would publish all the best submissions from the week in an email newsletter simply titled “Friday InterMadness”.

As the list of subscribers grew, so did the richness and variety of the submissions. Friday InterMadness was now capturing an Internet snapshot through the eyes of the subscribers, and offering a blast of humor and curiosity at the end of the work week. Although this simple email newsletter was good thing, something was still missing; the conversation was only one-way between the subscribers and the InterMadness staff.

So in 2016, InterMadness.com was born to fully open the conversation and make each user their own curator. Now, you can search through the archives of past madness, easily submit your own madness, vote on the best submissions of the week and share your comments with everyone. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

With the new website, the balance of taste is now shared between the staff and the users. Although the weekly Friday InterMadness list is still selected by the staff, The People’s Madness list is selected by the users based on how they’ve rated the past week’s submissions.

HOW IT WORKS

Starting at 5:00pm EST every week, users begin sending in their links for the current week. Over the course of the week, the users view all the submissions as they come in and vote on the best ones by rating them. At the end of the week at 5:00pm EST, The People’s Madness and Friday InterMadness lists are published for public viewing.

Step 1: SUBMIT – Enter your link and click the “Get Info” button to automatically get the Title, Description, Thumbnail, and corresponding Video or Photo for the link. You are the curator of your madness, so edit the Title and Description so it’s clear to the other subscribers, choose the relevant Tags, and Submit! You can submit as many times as you like in the course of the current week.

Step 2: VOTE – Go to The HottList to view and rate each of the latest submissions for the current week. By rating this week’s submissions, you directly determine the order of The People’s Madness list that is published on that Friday. REMEMBER: rate often and honestly.

Step 3: FRIDAY – Every Friday at 5:00pm EST, the Friday InterMadness list and The People’s Madness lists are published.

Step 4: EXPLORE – View this week’s Friday InterMadness and view all the previous weeks back to 2006. Check out The People’s Madness to see how the people voted, and add your own rating. View InterMadness Exclusives from the staff and subscribers. Use the top Search bar to explore by keyword or Nickname. Use the Advanced Search bar to customize the list of results for the page you’re viewing. Click a tag to view madness by that topic.

FAQs

Do I need to create a login?

You don’t need to create a login to browse the site and vote, but a login is required to make a submission.  Only registered users can view and vote on the current week’s submissions.  Non-registered users have to wait until Friday to see this week’s submissions.

What if I forgot my password or want to change my password?

If you forgot your password or want to change it, go to the Lost Password page and follow the instructions.

How do I send in a submission?

The InterMadness Staff will no longer accept submissions by email. Please log in to your account or click Register to create an account.  Then, click the Submit link in the top navigation area. What kinds of submissions are allowed?

Although there are no restrictions on what type of links you can post, please your judgment and be considerate of the other users.  Do not post links to websites that contain viruses or will harm other users’ computers.  If you choose to post content that is racy, adult or offensive in nature, please state that in the description of your submission.  If you violate other’s enjoyment of the site, your account may be terminated by the InterMadness Staff.

Can I choose what will be displayed in my submission?

The Title, Description, Thumbnail and Body of your post is automatically extracted from the link you provide.  Although you can edit the Title and Description, you cannot choose the Body and Thumbnail.  Depending on the type of link, the Body will be an embedded video, and image or nothing.

How can I embed a video into the body of my submission?

To ensure that a video gets automatically embedded into the body of your post, enter the direct link to the video when you submit (i.e.: YouTube, Vimeo, LiveLeak, Dailymotion, etc).  If you post a link for a blog that contains the embedded video, only a photo from the page will be embedded.  However, the original link you submit will always be listed at the top of your post.

Why did my submission disappear completely?

Submissions are typically removed if [a] the InterMadness Staff has determined your post is too inappropriate, too offensive, or if it is an advertisement, [b] if a duplicate post for the same link was already submitted.

Why did my account get disabled?

You were being a jerk to others in the community or submitting harmful content.
